What is Cold Laser Therapy?
Quite often with acute injuries such as ankle sprains come along some range of swelling and even a little bit of bruising at times. With this type of injury it is common to use Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT), or our Cold Laser modality to accelerate the healing process.
Typically, members are curious as to what the machine is actually doing, and is often met with the question, “I can’t feel anything, is the machine even on?”
To answer that question, yes the machine is on, and yes it is working. The consistent high pitched beep is a testament to that. So, what is actually happening within the tissues?
Simply put, the Cold Laser creates a specific light wavelength (based off condition) which gets into the soft tissue. The light interacts with the muscles and will stimulate the area to increase adenotriphosphate (ATP), the bodies source for energy. Through this energy production, it allows the injured tissue to regenerate at an accelerated rate.
This allows the Cold Laser modality help with pain, swelling, reducing muscle spasm and increasing functionality. Rather than taking a passive approach for an acute injury, consider incorporating this to help speed up the healing process!
Both our Chiropractors and our Physiotherapists provide Cold Laser/Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) in their care and wellness plans. Click here to book in with either of them today!
