Shockwave

What Is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device. Its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. It is presently used around the world in Podiatry, Urology, Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy, and Orthopaedics. It is a non-surgical therapy than can reduce or even eliminate the need for painkillers. Altogether these factors make it an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and often resolve the root cause(s) of acute or chronic pain.

How Shockwave Therapy Works

It specifically accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue. Strong energy pulses are applied to the affected area. These pulses occur for short periods of time, creating micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst. The force created by these bubbles penetrates tissue and stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing. Evidently, shockwave therapy is most effective in cases where the human body has not been able to heal itself on its own.

Additionally, the beneficial effects of shockwave therapy are often experienced after only a few treatments. The therapy eliminates pain and restores full mobility, thus improving your quality of life.
