Why You Should See More Than One Practitioner

Chiropractic. Physiotherapy. Massage Therapy. Personal Training. Calgary is a city that offers every one of these professions and more! So, should you find the best one for you, the most convenient for your schedule, or perhaps a multidisciplinary approach?

In this post, we will highlight why you should see more than one Practitioner.

Firstly, let’s acknowledge the ugly truth that there are many clinics that advertise being a multidisciplinary clinic simply because the offer multiple disciplines. While this may be the superficial meaning of such a term, let’s face it, people go to a multidisciplinary clinic with the hopes of working with a team of professionals who all work together, using their unique skill set and experience to create the best possible plan to help you achieve your goals.

Unfortunately, in many of these clinics (yes, our own MYo Lab Practitioners have personally experienced this first-hand in many of their previous positions before working here) it’s more of a marketing scheme to bring people in the door, but in reality, each professional works in their own closed-room, hoarding patients/clients, often never collaborating due to fear of disagreement and losing their patient/client, concerned more about their own means than your results!

At MYo Lab we often discuss in team meetings that every patient/client (although we prefer to call you one of our members) deserves the benefits that come with a multidisciplinary approach (which go far beyond spreading out your benefits and hard-earned money), and so we aim to give everyone the opportunity to work with at least 2 (if not more) of our Practitioners.

Sure, this creates a bit more work (which is another reason so many clinics fail to effectively work together) in the way of conversations between treatments, emails/phone calls before/after work, and other behind the scenes research and collaboration, but ultimately we feel it improves your results and hopefully encourages you to be so pleased with your results that you will refer a friend/colleague/family member when they bring up that nagging ache/pain/tightness/etc.

We each learn something slightly (and sometimes drastically) different in our schooling, and then more again as we progress in practice over the years based on the populations and settings we work in, so rather than referring to each other because we don’t know what is happening we prefer to refer to ensure we haven’t missed anything or gotten comfortable with your treatment.

We currently offer Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, and Personal Training, all under the same mission of creating community through movement.

And now you know our reasoning behind why you should see more than one Practitioner.

We are always accepting new members who are ready to commit to their health and wellness journey.
